Mandy- ETD
26th September - 10.10 am at LCCT airport.
Isn’t life just funny. I arrive in Queensland at midnight their time on the 27th. The 27th would mean Chris and I would be 2 years and 2 months as a couple. A new phase in our relationship?
I know you think its funny, God.
Nel - Food Fest
As of yesterday, (ok it was the day before yesterday) I am now finally an owner of a blackberry. It seemed like forever waiting till I was in Australia to get it, but it was worth the wait :) At first I was undecided on which to get, the old bold or the new one. But the fact that they weren’t even selling the old one anymore made my decision a whole lot easier!
This pretty little device looks harmless but my god, its addictive! Its like I have to have it with me at all times! I sleep with it, wake up with it, I watch TV with it, obviously I go out with it, I eat with it and I shamefully admit that it rests comfortably in my bathroom while I shower! I swear I was not this attached to my last phone!
So its day 6 in Melbourne and im really liking it! We’ve been eating anything and everything, throwing my ‘fish and steamed veggies only’ diet out the window! But I can’t help it, the food here is too goood!

We went to the Pancake Parlour for lunch and they had this really yummy butter and cheese with mushrooms pancake thing. It doesnt look very appealing but trust me, its SO gooood!

The older sister and I

The younger one and I looking like midgets. This mirror managed to entertain me for a good 10 mins!
THEN guess what I found!?! :D

A Gossip Girl Boardgame!!! hahah I got so excited, I HAD to have it! Its such a stupid game tho. Its like truth or dare minus the dare. And everytime you admit to doing something, you have to pay up. But atleast now I have paper money with Chuck Bass’ face on it! ;)
So back to the food, we had cupcakes at the Cupcake Family

The Red Velvet Cupcake was my favourite!

We also went to have dessert at Max Brenner. This man is so vain, he even had his bald little head printed on the tissues! But he definitely delivered cause the waffles were to die for!!!

Also, my cousins are arriving today! Really looking forward to seeing them :) and Im gonna stop writing now before Tumblr decides to not publish my posts again!

yours truly, xoxo
I wrote this loooooong post and tumblr decides to fcuk up and not publish it. ;(
nel - greetings from down undah
Thats right! Im here, finally :) Excuse us looking a mess. It was a long flight.

Mom, little sister and I at the airport in Melbourne

The view from the window at our current place
First impression, I was thinking where the hell are all the tall buildings? Melbourne is like so flat compared to skycraper-filled Hong Kong. Im right in the middle of city and I dont even feel like im in one. Maybe thats because Hong Kong was always so busy. Everything closes at like 5 pm here -__- I haven’t seen much of Melbourne yet but I think I will be able to tolerate it for the next 3 years. Will be doing all the tourisy stuff from tomorrow onwards! There will be photo updates soon :) x
Mandy- permission to smoke.
I just saw the x-ray of my lungs and according to the doctor, my lungs are clear!
we all know what that means.
you know what’s odd, being asked a million times in one day ‘are you pregnant?’, ‘when was your last period?’.
never thought i’d have to worry about that.
also whats not funny, i found out im 4cm shorter than i always thought i was. and that im 1kg heavier.
AUSTRALIA BY THE END OF THIS MONTH FOR ME.
I bet you Nel is sitting on her bag right about now trying desperately to lock it. I bet you she has to pay for excess baggage (:
Nel - “It’s Abdul, Like Paula”
Last Friday was my last day of working at Royal Cashmere. yay!! I really did enjoy working there. People were friendly, the atmosphere was good, very chilled, very laidback, work was easy and get this, the best part is, my job does not require me to sacrifice my sleep! I dont start work till 3 pm :) and i only have to stay till 7! staying overtime just means i get paid more! Dream job much? I met really great people there which I truly am gonna miss having around, but im sure with the cutting edge 21st century tech, (facebook, skype, msn, twitter, tumblr,..just to name a few) I wont have the space to miss them heheh
Friday night was movie night with the girls! we were all thuper duper excited to go watch Sex and the City 2. and it soooo did not dissapoint! I love it so much more than the first movie! I loved it so much I was willing to watch it TWICE! (last night with M.Y and M.C) It was like an overdose of hotness and all things pretty.

See what I mean? smokin hot.
Movies aside, on Saturday night, my parents organized a Kenduri Doa Selamat (i have no idea what its called in English) for me. Friends and family were all gathered at my house for prayers, praying all will be well when Im studying abroad. They then stayed for dinner and dessert. It was nice :) Then on Sunday it was time for a little R&R with the girls from work, which could only mean on thing..SHOPPING!!! Bought a bunch of stuff which is really gonna come back and haunt me when it comes time to pack. My room also currently looks like a tornado hit it. I have shoes, clothes, bags and boxes in every corner. I cant seem to filter out anything to fit it all into my luggage. Its a total nightmare!
Mandy - With love from Kuching
Am tumblr-ing from a family friend’s place.
Meet Crystal. This genius girl. I swear I dont know anyone so tiny to be able to speak such full and grown up sentences.
We’re at her place to watch America’s Next Top Model and Glee because my grandparents dont have Astro.

Crystal and her sister, Gracie have a dog called Rudolph. If you look closely at the left bottom corner there is this fuzz of white. thats their dog. obviously my webcam isnt the best camera in the world.

Take 2, yeah okay i give up.

2 more days before Chris flies down to Kuching!
Mandy- Like Samantha at a Convent
I’m back in Kuching. Which is where I was born and stayed til i was 4 and moved to the big city. If you can call KL that. I’m back here to fulfill my food cravings, and say goodbye to my grandparents. Who by the way are making a big deal out of this whole going to Australia thing. My grandfather tells EVERYONE he meets that ‘she’s going to australia you know, to further her studies in communications, all the way in queensland’. I guess thats him being proud of me? I wonder what the ppl he tells thinks of it. I mean i really dont think they care.
Life in Kuching is very laidback and slow. Very different from the hustle and bustle of KL. and certainly very different from Hong Kong. I can stay here a maximum of 2 weeks. And then after that the whole slow lifestyle is just annoying.

Everything is 10 mins apart. Traffic jams are unheard of. We eat noodles for breakfast, we have lunch, then we go for tea, then we have early dinner, then there is supper.
Also, my grandparents dont have internet. Or satellite tv (Astro). BUT, dvd’s are RM5, so we stocked up!
This weekend, chris will be coming down. It’s his second trip to Kuching and he just loves how cheap things are here. Esp his cigarettes. Then there’s going to be a bbq at the kampung, the next day we head for the beach!
I guess what really differs btwn Kuching and KL is how ppl dress. So I tend to be overdressed no matter where I go. Even if im wearing house clothes. This isnt me bragging about how fancy and fabulous my clothes are because trust me its not. Its just how simple ppl in Kuching really are. Dressing up is the last thing on their mind! But bless their souls, they are really friendly (:

I wont have many chances to go online here in Kuching, but i’ll upload pics when im back.
xx
P.S. i hate that Nel has an ipod touch when she doesnt even know that she doesnt need a cd to download songs onto her itunes!!! I DESERVE THE IPOD TOUCH. instead i have my 2nd generation ipod nano 2gb. how pathetic is that.

but thats okay, daddy’s getting me a new camera

Nel - Soak In The City
Mandy flew to Kuching today, to visit her family there. Me on the other hand, am busy soaking up every little bit of Hong Kong I can before I leave. My schedule for the next 10 days is pretty much packed with dinners and lunches and movies and gatherings with people Ive gotten to know and love here :) Time flies so quickly, I still remember the day I landed in this city for the first time. Oh so young, oh so scared haha
oh and! I just got an Ipod Touch yesterday :) but its been a pain in the ass transferring all my music. Im sure theres a simpler way to do it where you download some program or what not, but im terrible with computers so I just dont bother and suffer doing it the long tedious way! I only just recently found out that we no longer need a CD to install iTunes. its quite embarrassing how technologically challenged I am!
